December sure was a busy month. We were supposed to go out to eat to celebrate my birthday but Soleil got sick. We woke up to a screaming girl with throw-up all over the bed. Happy Birthday to me! It was only the 2nd time in her life that she has thrown up!
I got a sewing machine for my birthday. I have wanted one for a while. It is still in the box since I haven't had time to pull it out, nor do I have anywhere to put it at the moment. Robbie is now working from home and we did a little room makeover in the front bedroom. Robbie painted the walls a nice warm brown...SO much better than the orange that we had originally painted it. He now has a desk in there. We are planning on selling the futon and I hope to get some sort of table or desk to put my sewing machine in there too. It is actually nice having him work from home because on his breaks he is able to help out around the house and it is VERY much appreciated!
We celebrated Sol's 2nd birthday with a party at home for her. We invited her daycare friends and some of our friends too. She loved having the kids over since we hardly ever have children at the house. She showed off her bedroom and of her toys and was remarkably good at sharing. She was also elated that Leslie came to her house too! We borrowed a friend's bounce house but it was so cold that day the kids lasted about 5 minutes before they were ready to head back in to the house. Daddy made her a "Maisy" cake.
Once she learned about opening presents she wanted to open all the presents under the Christmas tree. We let her open her ornament Christmas Eve and I think a couple of gifts from friends. On Christmas morning she woke up and was surprised to see a train under the tree. Santa Claus must have set it up overnight. When it turned on it went around the tree on the track and made noise and blew smoke. She loved it! We started opening presents and she soon grew tired of us handing her present after present since she wanted to REALLY open up each toy and play with it. We think Santa went a little overboard! We decided to leave a few presents under the tree to open the next week since Sol and I were off Christmas afternoon to visit Robbie's parents in Alabama.
We stayed from Christmas day to New Year's Day with Nana and PawPaw. Soleil enjoyed their company...she ran up to Nana in the airport to give her a big hug! She got even MORE Christmas presents out there and enjoyed relaxing...as you can see from the pics. Karo (their dog) was her best bud and was such a good sport about letting her try out her new medical kit! She also enjoyed going up to their store. She felt like she owned the place. PawPaw would always get her some "Icy-juice" in a big tall cup and she would walk around and point to things and magically they became hers. I have not had her in a convenient store since...I am worried she will run around grabbing things off the shelves!
